Rob Praaning is the retired director of the Dutch Gas Turbine Association. In that function he served two terms as the European Member in the Board of ASME - International Gas Turbine Institute. As such he gained a great deal of

experience in the european gas turbine world and made himself known with the social-economic aspects during the gas turbine growth in the 1990’s for air-land-and sea power in the Netherlands, Europe and Asia.

 

Borne in Indonesia, as a dutch citizen , he acquired his technical education and continued in 1960 in the U.S.A., at UCLA., while he was employed by GE. Rob

worked  as a mechanical engineer at Edwards Flight Test Centre and at the GE Los Angeles Service Shop, California for 5 years. He returned to the Netherlands in 1965 to work for the national gas company Gasunie, until 1987. During that time he served in several  departments in managerial functions until he was chosen to be the director of the Dutch Gas Turbine Association upon retirement in 1996.
